Ash Barty Becomes First Australian to Win Wimbledon Women's final Since 1980
The first Aussie woman to win the Wimbledon Final was Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980. A new name has been written in our History book today as Ash Barty becomes the first woman after Evonne to win the Wimbledon championship title. This has been her long childhood dream. Ash beat Czech eight-seeded player Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
The second game went on to end in a tie break which Karolina won with a 7/4 point. Barty has put in so much work to win this years women Wimbledon title. karolina, gave a speech, congratulating Barty saying that she enjoyed every moment of the tournament and she looks forward to coming back. Karolina seemed to be the favourite of both opponents at this final. Karolina told her fans that Barty played an outstanding game tonight. She went ahead to say that she Barty was well in shape to win this grand slam. Both players praized the sponsors of the tournament.
